Environment Canada has issued a windchill warning for the Portage la Prairie area. Frigid Arctic air combined with a strengthening northwesterly wind will surge southward out of Central Manitoba and into the south today, the warning said.

A federal court jury awarded $580,000 in damages to a Rome woman Monday after determining that she was subjected to a hostile work environment and unfair termination as an employee of the Central New York Psychiatric Center. Christine Bergerson of Rome filed a complaint against the state Office of Mental Health’s Marcy-based center about 10 months after losing her job there in January 2006.
