Critics sound alarm over Environment Canada’s spending on weather radios

OTTAWA — It detects extreme weather and has a snooze option, similar to any radio alarm clock, but Environment Minister Peter Kent isn’t sure why his government spent nearly $1 million to buy 14,000 “Weatheradios” for schools, girl guides and scouts across the country.
