DILG orders review, revision of South Cotabato’s environment code

Declaring it as “not in accordance” with the country’s mining law, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has directed the provincial government of South Cotabato to immediately review and amend a provision on its environment code that bans the use of the controversial open-pit mining method in the province

TEN environmental groups in Mayo have received government funding totaling €20,000 for local initiatives. John Gormally, Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, announced the list of approved recipients under the Local Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership Fund.
