When it comes to home improvement, the little things count. Looking at the mailbox, it’s often ignored yet it’s the first thing visitors see when they arrive. It is remarkable how very little attention homeowners pay to their mailbox when it is the very impression anyone gets of a house. According to California Mailboxes here are the four most common types of mailboxes.

Roadside

This is the most common type. They’re positioned next to the road away from your home so that the postman can drop mail without leaving the vehicle. They’re firmly grounded using sturdy poles. You get a wide range of options here, from modern to Victorian mailboxes.

Apartment type
These mailboxes are ideal for apartment setups. These mailboxes usually mounted on the walls making the most of the available space and are clustered together. They are also known as cluster mailbox units and can pack tens of mailboxes into a single space.

Collection boxes

Though rare, they are similar to the typical roadside mailbox except that they’re equipped with a lock. The postman delivers mail through a small slot at the top. They’re more secure as they cannot be accessed without a key. They ensure your mail is safe from nosy neighbors.

Pedestal mounts

Just like apartment mailboxes; they’re mounted to the wall. There are often installed in apartment clubhouses for ease of access. They can be installed anywhere as they’re equipped with stands as well.
