How to Easily Clean Your Hardwood Floors

Summary: Cleaning your hardwood floors is relatively easy if you stick to a routine schedule.

Learning how to clean your hardwood floors is absolutely important for both maintaining and protecting your gorgeous investment. Because dirt and grime can’t hide on hardwood like they can on carpet, cleaning your floors may seem like it’d take a lot of effort. But, once you create a routine you can stick to, cleaning them won’t be as difficult as.

Sweep on the Daily

Five your floors a good dusting with a cloth or microfiber cleaning pad. These essentially use static electricity to gather and trip dirt, dust, and pet dander. Using a broom can be effective as well, but it can also just push the dirt around. When you are looking to clean your floors without damaging them, try and avoid lifting the microfiber mop up off the floor when you are cleaning – this way the dirt is kept on the pad.

Mop Weekly

Weekly maintenance is another important part of your routine that covers areas that dusting simply cannot reach. Vacuums and wet mops are great for getting dirt out of difficult areas like the small spaces in between each hardwood board. However, it’s important that you stress caution while using them as you don’t want to damage your floors. If your vacuum comes with a beater bar, make sure it doesn’t bang on the floor and cause dents. Moreover, be careful when wheeling your vacuum around as it can easily scratch the floor. When you are using a mop, remember that water and wood simply do not mix. Do not put an excess amount of liquid on your floor. Lightly misting the area with a specialized hardwood cleaner will do the job.
