Environment Ministry Downscale Plan Approved

Parliament passed with its third and final hearing on March 11 a package envisaging downscaling of Environment Ministry’s functions. The package of amendments into 45 various laws will come into effect from March 18, Gia Khuroshvili, the government’s parliamentary secretary said.

“There were [critical] remarks on this matter voiced by lawmakers and experts and they have provided their arguments, which were shared by the government, so the agency for protected areas will remain in the Ministry of Environment,” Gia Khuroshvili, the government’s parliamentary secretary, told lawmakers on February 25.
